The Testimony of Evangelist Doug Brandenburg
Mine is the unique privilege of a preacher’s kid! I was raised at the Troy Baptist Temple in Troy, Ohio, under the leadership and godly ministry of Dr. Thomas F. Duff. My father was a children’s evangelist based out of our home church, and it was during one of my father’s children’s revivals in 1972 that I heard the Gospel and trusted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.
A few years later, in 1975, the Lord dealt with my heart under the preaching of Pastor Duff, and I answered the call to preach. I began preaching while still in high school, uniquely blessed to be under the direct tutelage of both my pastor and my father.
Directly following high school, I attended Bible college to prepare for full-time service. Throughout my college years, I traveled extensively to preach in local churches and completed the Joe Boyd Summer Seminars of Evangelism while traveling alongside the seasoned evangelist, Dr. Joe M. Boyd. It was also during these formative college years that I met my future wife, Rhonda. We were united in marriage in June of 1980 and immediately stepped into full-time ministry together. Over the last forty-plus years, we have joyfully served the Lord in many different capacities. God has blessed our home with four grown children—each of whom attended Bible college and continues to actively serve the Lord today—and twelve wonderful grandchildren.
The Testimony of Mrs. Rhonda Brandenburg
I was raised in a Christian home by a godly mother after my father passed away from cancer when I was just six years old. Although I had been spoken to about salvation at a very young age, I spent many years—even through high school and into Bible college—struggling with the assurance of my salvation, constantly asking myself, "Am I truly saved?"
As a freshman in Bible college, that agonizing struggle finally came to an end. On Wednesday night, March 17, 1977, in the quiet moments between the Sunday school teachers' meeting and the mid-week service, I called upon the Lord for salvation and settled my eternity once and for all. (Years later, I was scripturally baptized to reflect that true profession of faith).
Prior to Bible college, I attended business school and received a diploma in secretarial studies. I later enrolled in Bible college to study elementary education, completing four years of study and fulfillment of student teaching within special education classes. It was during my junior year that the Lord brought Doug into my life. We were married two years later, and it remains the greatest joy of my life to stand by his side as we serve the Lord together.
Over Forty Years of Faithful Ministry Partnership
As a couple, our lives are a testament to God’s enduring grace and calling. From our earliest days in Bible college to our present mission through Pulpit Aflame Ministries, our goal remains unchanged: to evangelize the sinner, edify the saints, equip the servants, and encourage the local church pastor.
